Real Madrid backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin talked to the club’s media after starting in Madrid’s 2-1 victory at the Camp Nou.
“Discipline and attitude were key because Barcelona had more possession. Also, the determination because playing away is tough, and today these three points were important because we all knew how things stood. Teamwork was important. When you can dominate, play well, and try to keep a clean sheet, you do it. But when the game gets tough, especially against great rivals like
today, you have to know how to endure, manage the matches, and stay united as a team until the end,” he said when asked about how Real Madrid got the win.
He also talked about the crucial save he made late in the game when the score was still 1-1. That save kept Real Madrid in the game.
“Nuno (the goalkeeping coach) always says ‘well-trained,’ and I believe it’s because of the daily work,” he added.
Lunin also shared his thoughts on Mbappé’s game-winning goal to give Madrid the three points.
“In recent years, the team has connected well with the phrase ‘Hasta el final, vamos Real.’ We have to focus more on our work because this team always wants to win, and it’s not easy, which is why we have to work hard,” he said.
