Barcelona’s hunt for a new striker to replace Robert Lewandowski seems to have switched from Julian Alvarez to Lautaro Martinez
.Reports in Italy insist that Inter have no intention of selling their Argentina forward this summer, but it’s a different story altogether in Spain.
El Chiringuito’s Jose Alvarez says that “Barça are going all out for Lautaro” and adds that “Inter are expected to negotiate and the deal could be closed.” He also adds: “There are other alternatives but right now they’re working
flat out on Lautaro. Both with the player and his entourage (with several meetings) and with the club (first contacts).”
The word is that Barcelona are preparing a first offer for Martinez “that will not exceed €100m” as the Catalans bid to bring in a striker before the transfer window closes.
Lautaro has been linked with Barcelona many times over the years, meaning it’s no great surprise to see his name pop up again as the Catalans try to bolster their attack.
Yet the Argentine has said previously he’d be happy to spend the rest of his career at Inter, and it’s hard to see Nerazzurri being willing to sell their captain right at the end of the transfer window.
