Though we are still waiting for any word on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement in order to have a WNBA season take place, the Minnesota Lynx and other teams across the league announced their 2026 regular
season schedules on Wednesday.
Minnesota plans to open up its regular season on opening night in May , hosting the Atlanta Dream at Target Center at 6 p.m. on May 10. This is the first time since 2023 the Lynx are hosting their first game of the year.
The WNBA regular season will span from May 10 to Sept. 24, once again featuring a 44-game regular season that includes 22 games at home and on the road. The first half of the regular season will come to a close July 23, with regular-season action pausing from July 23-26 due to the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago. There will be another pause in games from Aug. 31-Sept. 17 due to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup taking place.
The WNBA Commissioner’s Cup will once again take place in the first half of the regular season, occurring from June 1-17. Minnesota has played in the Commissioner’s Cup the last two years, winning it in 2024 and falling in 2025.
The Lynx will announce their preseason schedule and local and national TV broadcast schedules at a later date.
Highlights
- Minnesota’s schedule includes eight games in May, 11 in June, 11 in July, 10 in August and four in September. The Lynx will have six Monday games, four Tuesday games, eight Wednesday games, six Thursday games, five Friday games, six Saturday games and nine Sunday games.

- The Lynx will see Toronto for the first time on May 21 in Minneapolis and will welcome Portland for the first time on June 15 at Target Center. Toronto and Portland are the WNBA’s two new expansion teams entering the league in 2026.
- The Lynx will have a total of one three-game homestand to go along with two four-game homestands this season. One the road, they will have one three-game road trip and one four-game road trip.
- The 2026 season should be a memorable one for Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, who needs just 16 wins to become the all-time winningest coach in WNBA history.
