Jorge Masvidal can’t say exactly when his next UFC fight will take place, but “Gamebred” is at least promising “something big” for his awaited return to action.
It’s been a while since UFC fans saw “Gamebred” grace the Octagon. The last time Masvidal fought for the promotion was at UFC 287 in April 2023. He ended up losing to welterweight veteran Gilbert Burns via decision to extend his current UFC losing streak to four and force a temporary retirement. In fact, the last time Masvidal won a UFC fight
was his “BMF” showdown opposite Nate Diaz all the way back in 2019.
While Masvidal did return to combat sports for a boxing match with Diaz back in July 2024 fight fans are still waiting for him to come back to the cage. “Gamebred” isn’t able to reveal too much right now, but we should expect Masvidal fight news pretty damn soon, which is interesting given the recent kibosh on Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler.
“Some of it is like level-five only access, so I can’t really say too much, but I am training for something big,” Masvidal told MMA Junkie Radio. “… You never know, right? Give ’em what they want, not what they expect. I can say it’s some big news. I have some fight news coming soon, and it’s very big news.”
Masvidal, who has been making calls into President Donald Trump, is hopeful his return takes place at UFC’s White House card in June. Until something is officially announced, though, “Gamebred” will be left to speculate like the rest of us.
“I can’t deny or confirm any of that right now, but maybe hopefully soon, I can,” Masvidal said. “… Like maybe 10 days, something like that, I should have more confirmation on it.”
