Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has had two shots at Oleksandr Usyk, coming up short in two decisions he continues to dispute, but his promoter Frank Warren tells Sky Sports that Fury has a strong
desire to be the best in the world and he knows he has to get through Usyk to do it. Because of this, Warren says Fury — who will be returning this April in a fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov — wants a third chance at Usyk.
“He wants to be the best. That’s how he’s always been. He’s told me he wants to fight Usyk again,” Warren told Sky Sports News.”Tyson’s a fighting man. He loves it. He goes in the gym and when he gets down to serious training, he wants to see an end result and the end result for him is fighting.”
Warren continues by saying that he doesn’t believe Fury needs to fight anymore because he’s already sealed his legacy in the sport, but that it’s just in Fury’s makeup to fight and with that being the case he’d rather see him continue now than sit out for a few more years before returning, when he’ll only be more diminished.
In the meanwhile Fury will need to deal with Makhmudov, who Warren rates as a tough comeback opponent for Fury. If Fury is able to get through that fight on top, there should be plenty of options for him to continue even outside of another potential rematch against Usyk.
