There was lots of confusion regarding the status of Andrade’s career in professional wrestling after being released from WWE. When Andreade quickly showed up in AEW again, WWE threatened to enforce a non-compete clause for one year. Those circumstances left Andrade uncertain about his immediate future. His contract situation remains unclear, however, one thing is now clear. El Idolo is a champion.
Andrade returned to the ring on Saturday night (Dec. 13, 2025) for World Wrestling Council in Puerto
Rico. El Idolo challenged Xavant for the WWC Universal Championship.
On the finish, Andrade rocked Xavant with a back elbow then closed with a twisting double underhook neckbreaker for victory. El Idolo sat up from the pin with a smile. It was the type of smile that felt genuine and not just for show.
Andrade was in the mood to celebrate with a tequila or a Medallita beverage.
The next step in Andrade’s career is unclear. This match seems to be a special exemption in ongoing negotiations with WWE to clear his free agency status. For what it’s worth, WWC is advertising their next show on January 3 with a photo of Andrade as champion.
