Happy Labor Day, San Francisco Giants fans. On account of the holiday, the usual weekend Minor League Baseball roundup will have to wait until Tuesday, instead of going up today. But, since there’s not much to talk about with the big league team, it seemed like I should give you a sneak peak today.
Jackson Flora, the NorCal born and raised Giants fan that the team took with the fourth overall pick in July, made his professional debut on Friday for Low-A San Jose. It went fairly swimmingly, as Flora struck
out two batters in a scoreless first inning, albeit with a hit and a walk.
That will go down as Flora’s only official appearance this year, as the Low-A and High-A seasons ended on Sunday. But we’ll likely see him pitch again sometime this week in the postseason.
The future is bright. Which is great, because the present sure as heck isn’t.
Speaking of the present, here’s what’s on tap for the week: the Giants kick off a six-game home stand tonight with a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, followed by three against the San Diego Padres, with a Thursday off-day thrown in there.
What time do the Giants play today?
The Giants are Cardinals play holiday baseball at 5:10 p.m. PT tonight.
