Dalton Johnson
and Treydan Stukes have been college teammates for the past five years. Now the two former Arizona defensive backs will be teammates in the NFL.The Las Vegas Raiders selected Dalton Johnson with the 150th overall pick in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. The Raiders previously drafted Stukes with the 38th overall pick in the second round.
Johnson and Stukes are the first Arizona teammates selected by the same team in the same draft since the Jacksonville
Jaguars drafted Eben Britton and Mike Thomas in 2009.
Another Arizona defensive back, Genesis Smith, was selected in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Chargers, giving Arizona three draft picks in three straight years for the first time since 1998-2000.
Johnson led Arizona last season with 97 tackles and four interceptions. Johnson had one sack and one forced fumble. He earned First Team All-Big 12 honors.
The 5-foot-11 Johnson appeared in 50 games over five seasons at Arizona, appearing on special teams in addition to bolstering the Wildcats secondary. Johnson will likely begin his NFL career as a special teams player.
The Raiders traded up to take Johnson, sending the 219th pick and defensive end Tyree Wilson to the New Orleans Saints.
