Barcelona starlet Ebrima Tunkara
has sustained an ankle injury and is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks. The teenager shone in pre-season with Hansi Flick’s first team but has since returned to Barcelona Atletic for the 2026-27 season. He played for Juliano Belletti’s team in a friendly at the weekend against Vilanova but picked up a problem and was forced off.
Barcelona have now issued a statement that reads: “Barça Atlètic player Ebrima Tunkara has a traumatic ligament injury to his left
ankle, which occurred during the match against CF Vilanova this Sunday. The approximate time out is six weeks.”
Tunkara had been due to link up with the Spanish Under-18 national team for a friendly tournament but will miss that and some upcoming Barca Atletic matches.
When he returns to action, Tunkara will be expected to play a key role for Belletti’s side this season. He’ll also be hoping to catch Hansi Flick’s eye and be handed more first-team opportunities.
Flick had words of praise for Tunkara during pre-season and he’s widely regarded as one of the club’s most exciting talents currently coming through the ranks.
