Game notes
- After a decent comeback win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday, the Bruins will look to keep the good vibes going as they host the Buffalo Sabres. The B’s won the first match-up of the season between these two teams, a 3-1 decision back on October 11.
- After three consecutive losses to start the season (and by a combined 10-2 margin at that), the Sabres have shown signs of life lately. They’ve lost two in a row, but both were in overtime. Those two games were preceded by two wins in a row, so they’re riding a four-game point streak.
- The Sabres may get center Jordan Greenway back tonight, after he missed the entirety of training camp following summer surgery. Greenway played his college hockey at Boston University.
- Tonight’s game is a match-up between teams at opposite ends of the face-off spectrum: Buffalo is the worst in the league at 41.9%, while the Bruins are now second-best at 54.9%.
- Buffalo boasts the league’s best penalty kill at 91.2%.
- Morgan Geekie has been on a heater for the Bruins lately, with six goals in his last five games. That’s more than any other Bruin not named David Pastrnak has on the season.
- With Hampus Lindholm returning from injury and Jonathan Aspirot making his NHL debut, Mason Lohrei was a healthy scratch against the Islanders. While he’ll likely draw back in sooner rather than later, there’s little reason for Marco Sturm to make many changes to the lineup after a 5-2 win.
See
ya tonight!
