Pick results summary here. Last week had a high overall average on correct picks with 6/11 on correct picks. The top picker, who went 10/11 and only missed on Duke losing to Tulane, was JC who made his first pick this week. Congrats JC! Hope to see more picks from you in the future. Overall donkeygoatrunner is still 2 picks in the lead of overall picks with 29, but is being closely chased by dakotabull and myself with 27 correct picks. For overall pick percentage for those who have picked more than
1 week is RamblinRocketman who has correctly picked 66.67% (or 2/3 for those of you who like fractions) of his games. RamblinRocketman did miss week 0 so he is behind on overall picks but I will continue to track pick percentage in the future. Great week everyone, here’s hoping next week will be just as good !

My lord they did it! It’s not unique for this team to pull off a big upset, if anything I’m becoming too accustomed to us pulling off an upset, but this game felt special. This was the game we needed to have if we wanted to be ACC contenders, and the team as a whole stepped up. We’re no longer just a Giant Killer team, we are in the driver seat of our destiny in the ACC.
I’ve already listened to all the talk discussing how Clemson isn’t who we thought they were at the start of the year. I couldn’t disagree more. If you watched the game Clemson’s defense was in our backfield the entire game, and while Klubnik struggled he was keeping them in that game. The difference was our defense hitting hard, getting turnovers and as always Haynes King’s indomitable will power. This was not some choke loss by Clemson, GT earned this victory, and they should be happy with the win.
I also know the talk will be around Haynes King when it comes to GT, and that’s understandable given his performance but I do want to highlight some other players. Aidan Birr has looked fantastic to start the season and performed well under pressure. Birr has clearly worked on his game, and it has showed, he has been a big part of all of our wins. Keylan Rutledge showed his toughness when he had to leave for a play with a bloody nose and was back in on the next play with tissues stuffed up his nostrils. That is a demonstration of his toughness, and I think it is a toughness the rest of the team shares. Finally, Omar Daniels played a pivotal role in getting both turnovers in the game. The whole defense stepped up and deserves acknowledgement for how well they played, but naming everyone would take a while so I’ll just say that Omar was one of the best displays of how hard the team was fighting all day. Also, if you watch the post-game interview Omar’s grill for his teeth is wild and I love it! Great win, kudos to the whole team.

Elsewhere in the NCAA, I feel like nothing bad ever happens to uga. The Tennessee game seemed way to similar to a game I watched after Thanksgiving last year involving the dwags, those suckers just get good breaks every game. Hate those guys. Speaking of breaks, Texas A&M’s win shouldn’t be diminished for how they fought but it will be overshadowed by the mishandling of the snap for the Notre Dame extra point at the end of the game. Good for the Aggies, they may be a force in the SEC this year. USF finally lost to what is looking to be a great Miami team. Lots of ranked teams dropped this weekend so things are opening up in the Top 25 which should be good for GTs chances of getting ranked.
This week GT gets Temple at home. hopefully we don’t let the enthusiasm from last week’s win impact their play. Temple should be winnable, but we are in the middle of something Brent Key has never done at GT. It probably gets lost in the fact that we beat Clemson for the first time in 11 years, but this is also the first time Brent Key has ever won 3 games in a row. That’s right, we are formally on a winning streak for the first time since Brent Key took over as head coach. I would very much like to see that streak continue, I believe this team can make that happen.
picks:
Temple @ #18 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (-23.5)
Logan: The pick is Georgia Tech. The spread is massive but the Jackets should cover given Temple’s performance against Oklahoma last week.. No offense to the fans of Temple, but this should not be a close game. I’m hoping we’re past choking against less prominent schools after big wins. I would expect to see a lot of Philo in this one.
Logan’s pick: Georgia Tech
Florida Gators @ #4 Miami Hurricanes (-7.5)
Logan: DJ Lagway threw for 5 interceptions last week against LSU. FIVE!!! That’s really bad, and most of them were just not good throws. Testament to the Gator defense that they only gave up 20 points to LSU despite the offense giving up the ball so many times. Miami looks like they are out for blood this year. I often mock Miami, but they don’t seem to be last year’s team where they barely scraped out wins despite having so much talent. Miami is crushing opponents. I’m honestly surprised the spread is so low. I would probably pick Miami if the spread was 13.5. Miami by a bunch.
Logan’s pick: Miami
Civil War: Oregon State Beavers @ #6 Oregon Ducks (-34.5)
Logan: Similar to Miami, Oregon has been running up the score on pretty much everyone they’ve played thus far. Even though this is a rivalry game, my hopes are not high for a below average Oregon State team. The point spread is massive, but similar to Alabama last week I think this is a spread the Ducks should be able to achieve.
Logan’s pick: Oregon
Tobacco Road Rivalry: NC State Wolfpack @ Duke Blue Devils (-2.5)
Logan: NC State hasn’t looked stellar to start the season, their defense definitely has some questions to answer, but they have won every game they’ve played and that says plenty about their grit and determination. NC State could be scary down the line. I expect the Wolfpack to win this game in their backyard.
Logan’s pick: NC State
Battle for the Iron Skillet: SMU Mustangs @ TCU Horned Frogs (-6.5)
Logan: I still need some information about how good TCU is. Yeah, the Horned Frogs blew out UNC, but how good is UNC really. I think TCU is at least on Baylor’s level and we saw how things went between SMU and Baylor a few weeks ago. This is a rivalry so it should be close, and SMU is out to prove they are better than they have shown. I think TCU wins, but I believe SMU can cover and keep the game within a Field Goal.
Logan’s pick: SMU
North Carolina Tar Heels @ UCF Golden Knights (-6.5)
Logan: I need to see something from North Carolina before I pick them again. They won their last 2 games true, but they looked so bad against TCU. I have to pick UCF until I see some evidence of fighting spirit from this Tar Heels team.
Logan’s pick: UCF
The Apple Cup: Washington Huskies (-20.5) @ Washington State Cougars
Logan: As I often say, rivalry games are weird. Washington is definitely better on paper, but the Cougars get this rivalry game at home and will be pumped up to win this one. I’m not convinced Washington State wins, but they should cover in this old-school PAC-12 matchup.
Logan’s pick: Washington State
#17 Texas Tech Red Raiders @ #16 Utah Utes (-3.5)
Logan: This game should be a lot of fun. Both teams have been hot out the gates and both need this win if they want to be BIG 12 Champions. Statistically Texas Tech has been better on offense and defense but neither team has played anyone so its hard to say what exactly that means. Texas Tech has had all the hype this offseason, but that also means they have more pressure to perform in this one. I think Texas Tech should cover, but I expect Utah to win a hard fought game.
Logan’s pick: Texas Tech
#22 Auburn Tigers @ #11 Oklahoma Sooners (-6.5)
Logan: Oklahoma’s D-line is terrifying. They look unstoppable in the games I’ve seen. This will be a real test for Auburns QB to get some quick passes out. I think Auburn has a chance in this game, but the homefield advantage for Oklahoma will be too much for Auburn to overcome in the long run. Oklahoma should win by a touchdown.
Logan’s pick: Oklahoma
South Carolina Gamecocks @ #23 Mizzou Tigers (-13.5)
Logan: South Carolina lost Lanorris Sellers to an injury early against Vandy. Sellers is a good QB and helps elevate this South Carolina team. Sellers should be back next week as the injury was a concussion that he has seemingly already recovered from, but he may be limited. Mizzou is a good team, and I think they will take advantage of the weakness for South Carolina. I’ll take Mizzou.
Logan’s pick: Mizzou
#9 Illinois Fighting Illini @ #19 Indiana Hoosiers (-4.5)
Logan: I’m not sold on Indiana, despite their performance last year. What I have seen from Illinois has been amazing and I think they are going to achieve great things this year. While Indiana has a good QB with some great receivers, the Illinois defense has been fantastic, and Luke Altmyer has looked like a star. This will be another statement game for Illinois.
Logan’s pick: Illinois
