Bayern Munich began its 2026/27 season with the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund and might not have expected the challengers to actually challenge them.
The Bavarians ultimately won 2-1 thanks to a goal from Michael Olise and Nathaniel Brown (whom Olise technically assisted). The Frenchman was thus named Man of the Match by nearly half of the voter base for his performance today. Nathaniel Brown got 32% of the vote, while Harry Kane got a meager 3%. On the other hand a handful
of Dortmund players all got just under 10% each:
Olise, like the rest of his Bayern teammates, didn’t play his best game against Dortmund, who were unusually electric. One can look back to Bayern’s 3-2 win in Der Klassiker back in March where Olise similarly had a terrible game, but he forced a cross that landed at Joshua Kimmich, who promptly slotted the ball home.
Fortunately, the season ends next year so there is still plenty of time for Vincent Kompany to make the necessary adjustments to ensure Bayern is at its tantalizing best for the whole season.
