Mohamed Salah was ranked fourth and Barcelona’s Raphinha ended up in fifth place.
Raphinha enjoyed a simply brilliant season last time out for Barcelona, leading Neymar to hit out at the fact Raphinha did not rank higher.
“Raphinha in 5th is too much of a joke,” he posted on Instagram.
Neymar wasn’t alone in being baffled by the latest rankings. Pedri came in 11th which saw Ferran Torres respond on Instagram to show his mind was blown.
Aitana Bonmati shared his surprise. The Barca Femeni star won the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time in a row and said afterwards: “I like to highlight midfielders, like Pedri. We need to talk more about Pedri.”
Pedri’s 11th placed finish means he ended up behind Achraf Hakimi, Kylian Mbappe, Cole Palmer, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Nuno Mendes in the rankings.
