The Islanders by and large got “goalied” last night as Darcy Kuemper held them at bay and, after the Isles erased a 2-0 deficit, the Kings kept the puck for the entire boring overtime before scoring over Semyon Varlamov’s shoulder on a Adam Pelech-facilitated screen.
That’s a bummer, man.
Varlamov wasn’t great in allowing two goals to Artemi Panarin, who still carries that heavy Stench of Ranger, but he did stop a penalty shot to keep things tie-able. Kuemper’s performance, more than Varly’s, is the
reason they only got a regulation point.
And with that, their modest points streak continues, though their first win “streak” ends at two.

Ye gods, I’m still catching up on just how well the Senators fans booed and chanted at Brady Tkachuk all during his return to Ottawa a few nights ago. At one point a bunch of old Sens Tkachuk jerseys even rained down on the ice. It was borderline Tavares-returns-to-Long Island. Five stars, top show, I hope all of Toronto’s media is disgusted by the classless treatment.
