ESPN released the dates, times and networks for this year’s ACC/SEC Challenge on Monday, which are listed below. Here’s our first take on what we think will happen. We’ll likely revisit this by late November.
BC at Georgia – as of now, we’d have to take Georgia, but if the Eagles start hot, we might reconsider.
FSU at Tennessee. We’ll probably regret this, but we’ll take Florida State for now. Luke Loucks has proven a lot already, and now he’s got an imposing big man who Rick Barnes would love to have
for the Vols. If he stays out of foul trouble, he could pound Tennessee inside.
Auburn at Clemson. We don’t know a lot about Auburn yet, but Littlejohn is no joke. We’ll go with the Tigers – the ACC Tigers, that is.
South Carolina at NC State. State is likely to be better coached, and it’s in Raleigh, so we’ll back the Pack here.
Pitt at Missouri. We’ll have to go with Mizzou here. Regrettably, but it’s the truth.
Arkansas at UNC. Wow, interesting, right? The Hogs should have the talent, but UNC still has mystique. Talent usually wins out, so Arkansas.
Texas at Louisville. This one is interesting too. We don’t know a ton about UT yet, but as of now, they appear even, so we’ll go with the home team.
Syracuse at Oklahoma. Another interesting matchup. Porter Moser has underperformed at OU, but we don’t know much about his team yet. We’ll stick with the home team here, at least until we know more.
Ole Miss at Virginia Tech. Chris Beard really damaged his career in Austin when he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his former fiancée. However, he can still coach. We’ll take the Rebels here.
Wake Forest at LSU. This one is tough, because no one knows who Will Wade will have on his roster. Our gut says LSU, but they’ll need more bodies, and Wade seems determined to fight the SEC, and he could get suspended if it comes to that. We’ll have to revisit.
Duke at Florida. We don’t bet against Duke.
Kentucky at Virginia. Historically, you’d default to Kentucky, but Mark Pope has not yet proved himself, and Ryan Odom certainly has. We’ll ride with who? Why the ‘Hoos, of course.
Vanderbilt at Notre Dame. There’s no particular reason to favor Notre Dame over Vandy. There’s just not.
Alabama at Miami. This one should be really good. When in doubt, go with defense. Therefore: Miami.
Stanford at Texas A&M. BuckyBall vs. NerdBall. We’ll have to go with the home team here, mostly because Stanford has a lot to prove.
Georgia Tech at Mississippi State. Scott Cross is just getting started, but the bottom fell out at Mississippi State last year. Everyone will probably still be geeking out over the football team, so Tech might have a chance. But we’ll go with the Bulldogs for now.

- 7:15 p.m. – Kentucky at Virginia – ESPN
- 7:15 p.m. – Vanderbilt at Notre Dame – ACC Network
- 9:15 p.m. – Alabama at Miami – ESPN
- 9:15 p.m. – Stanford at Texas A&M – ESPNU
- 9:15 p.m. – Georgia Tech at Mississippi State – SEC Network
