Meet the Mets
Admittedly the Mets haven’t done a ton in terms of additions this offseason, but what they have added in the bullpen could potentially be a massive victory.
As Carlos Beltran is likely only a few weeks
away from being elected to the Hall of Fame as a Met, it’s a good time to think about some other players who donned the orange and blue who are potentially deserving of the honor.
Around the National League East
The Yankees are rumored to be interested in trades for Edward Cabrera of the Marlins and/or Freddy Peralta of the Milwaukee Brewers.
With 2026 upon us, the Phillies and J.T. Realmuto are no closer to a reunion, and if the team makes one more reasonably priced free agent move, it might not happen at all.
Every team needs a good utility infielder for fun if nothing else and the Washington Nationals look to have a three-way battle that’ll start up when the team reports to Spring Training.
Around Major League Baseball
Only a year removed from being as close to an injured non-factor as a highly paid player can be, 2025 finally made Trevor Story an integral part of a playoff Boston Red Sox roster.
The Royals and manager Matt Quatraro came to terms on an extension that kicks in following the 2026 season and goes through 2029 with an option for 2030.
Having missed out on every other player they kicked the tires on this offseason, the Pirates are said to be interested in the services of Eugenio Suarez. Good for them.
True New York Mets Enemy Paul DeJong signed a minor-league deal with an invite to major league Spring Training with the crosstown Yankees.
