Part behind-the-scenes docuseries, part new layer of kayfabe, Netflix’s WWE UnReal is coming back on July 21 with five new 50-minute episodes.
The streamer announced as much today (July 6), while also dropping this trailer for the third season of UnReal on us:
As you can see, the post-heel-turn portion of John Cena’s retirement run last year is a major focus. We see the hold he tapped out to Gunther from Saturday Night’s Main Event briefly, and Liv Morgan’s Survivor Series return also indicates this
season will probably take us to the end of 2025. In addition to the Never Seen 17’s farewell and Morgan’s return, Triple H and WWE’s efforts to make WWE’s next big thing are covered as part of a look at Bron Breakker around Seth Rollins’ legit retirement. AJ Lee’s return and impact look to be the other main topic of UnReal S3.
Here’s the official logline for the new season:
John Cena says goodbye, a fan favorite returns, and the next generation of Superstars rise to the occasion. WWE: Unreal takes viewers inside the writers’ room as injuries, last-minute pivots, and career-defining decisions reshape WWE’s biggest season yet heading into WrestleMania 42.
Having watched both seasons of UnReal… I’m still not sure what I think of it, or what I believe from it. It’s provided fodder for conversations with my friends and in and around this community though, and that’s not nothing.
Are you excited for UnReal’s new season? What’s you take on the whole concept, since it looks to be sticking around for a while?
