The Green Bay Packers waited until well after the 4:00 PM Eastern Time deadline on Tuesday to reveal their first 53-man roster of the 2025 season, but fans now have a look at how the roster shapes up immediately after final cuts. The roster numbers break slightly in favor of the defense, with the team keeping 26 players on that side of the ball compared to 24 on offense and the usual three specialists.
Among the most notable cuts on Tuesday were a pair of veteran players whom the Packers signed as
free agents this offseason. Neither wide receiver Mecole Hardman nor linebacker Isaiah Simmons made the 53, as they both failed to impress enough during training camp to warrant roster spots. The Packers kept guaranteed money to a minimum for both players, however, as the two combined for just $317,500 in signing bonuses.
The Packers’ trade for offensive lineman Darian Kinnard in recent days also helped bring the roster battle on the offensive line into clearer focus. The front office evidently feels that Kadeem Telfort did not impress enough on the interior of the line to keep him over the promise that Kinnard, a one-time All-American tackle in college, brings to the same position.
A few big questions were answered through injury-related statuses as well. The Packers placed two players on Injured Reserve with a designation to return, the maximum that they could at the deadline, using those statuses on running back MarShawn Lloyd and offensive lineman Jacob Monk. Each of those two players will miss four games and will be eligible to return in week six after the Packers’ bye week. Meanwhile, all three players who missed training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list were moved to the Reserve/PUP list. Those three — Christian Watson, John Williams, and Collin Oliver — will need to miss at least six games before being eligible to return.
Here’s the 53 as it now stands after the cut-down deadline. Be mindful that this roster could still change by Wednesday, however, as waiver claims are due by 12 Noon Eastern Time.
