It’s another week of the Mountain West Recruiting Roundup.
The class of 2026 is signed, sealed, and delivered, but our coverage of the class is just getting started. New offers for the class of 2027 and beyond
are being handed out, as some teams are wasting no time in doing work for next year’s class, but February will mostly focus on breaking down the 2026 class.
Next week, we will look at which teams recruited the best position units. The following week, we will debut our 2026 sleeper recruit team. However, today’s edition features the 2026 Team Recruiting Rankings. Read further below for details about the rankings.
This week’s cover photo goes to the Broncos for being the #1 team in the rankings.

Recruiting Calendar:
Starting today and extending through the rest of January, we are in a contact period (except for a dead period of Jan 12-14). This is the most open of the recruiting periods. All communication and contact is allowed, on or off campus.
Next College Student Athlete defines it as:
The NCAA Contact Period is exactly what it sounds like—all communication between athletes and coaches is fair game. Coaches can email, text, call, direct message, and generally contact athletes and their parents through any NCAA-approved method. In-person contact can occur on the college campus, as well as at tournaments, at the recruit’s school, and home. In other words, the communication floodgates are open, so take advantage of this opportunity to get unlimited access to talk to coaches.
Air Force Commitment Tracker:
Since the Air Force Academy regularly has by far the most commits among Mountain West recruiting classes, it’s fun to track them over the course of the year.

2026 Mountain West Team Recruiting Rankings:
All data and rankings based on signees as of 2-4-26
Since rankings are always contested, we laid out the information that was used to help determine our rankings. For each team, the number of 3 and 4 (when applicable) stars is given, along with the number of players who have certain composite rating benchmarks. Classes are divided into different ranges, starting with players with a rating of at least 88, then 85-87, and finally 82-85. This attempts to capture both the quality and quantity of talent entering a class. It’s a different approach to determining rankings, one that emphasizes stars and top-end talent while still factoring in the depth of a class. All data is from 247 Sports.

Tiers
As many of you may know by now, I also like to break lists like these down into tiers. Tiers can be helpful in providing a different angle to look at things. If one made an argument for flipping some of the spots on this list but kept them within the same tier, I wouldn’t put up much of a debate.
Tier 1: Boise State
Tier 2: UNLV
Tier 3: Colorado State, San Diego State, Fresno State, New Mexico
Tier 4: Utah State
Tier 5: Nevada, Wyoming
Tier 6: San Jose State
Tier 7: Hawaii
