On Monday night, Germany exploded for six goals in front of a loud Leipzig crowd. The dominating victory served as revenge against Slovakia after the disappointing 2-0 result in September. It also sent
a message to the rest of the world that Germany is ready to rock and roll in next year’s FIFA World Cup.
The craziest part about Germany’s five wins in World Cup Qualifying is that Germany played without three of its top attackers: Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, and Gladbach’s Tim Kleindienst.
“When we play like we did today, we have a very good team,” said Schlotterbeck (via @iMiaSanMia). “We took the first step now and the next step is to play a good World Cup. When Jamal, Kai, Tim and all injured players are back, we can beat any team. We’re still Germany.”
All three players are expected to make a full recovery by next summer. Julian Nagelsmann will have some choices to make between returning players and current players who helped Germany fight through qualification.
