The firing of Earl Grant – albeit a disastrous 11-20 season and 4-14 in the ACC – hasn’t prevented the Eagles from making drastic changes this offseason.
It goes without saying that a complete makeover of the Men’s Basketball program was necessary. There wasn’t anything to write home about last season, not in the slightest. A year of blown leads, sloppy play, questionable coaching decisions, and lack of difference-making talent is what defined the team in 2025-26. But even in the darkest of times,
Boston College – at the moment – appears to be trending in a positive direction. It starts with new head coach Luke Murray, and a war chest of talented transfers, including two newcomers Andrija Bukumirovic and Aly Tounkara.
Andrija Bukumirovic
Bukomirovic joins BC following two seasons with UT Martin and one season at Eastern Florida State. A Serbia native, he is the third international transfer for the Eagles. At 6’7, he is a solid scorer and three point threat. Last season he averaged 13.8 points, 7.8 rebounds on 51% shooting and 36.4% from three. He needs work at the FT Line, given he’s shot a mere 57.1% from the charity stripe in his two seasons for UT Martin. One positive note for Bukomirovic is his 22 point outing versus Florida State last season, so he does bring some experience against ACC Competition.
Aly Tounkara
Tounkara is a 7’0’ Center who is exactly the type of player the Eagles needed. A glaring hole the Eagles were missing with all the transfers coming in was no doubt big man depth, and he’ll be providing that in hopefully a positive way. He comes from Arkansas St, where he averaged 4.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in 21 starts out of 32 games last season. Reports indicate the numbers do not tell the full story, as Tounkara’s usage increased as the season progressed. He may be offensively limited but he’s more known for his defense – let Money Williams, Zak Smrekar, and Armoni Ziegler worry about the scoring. He’ll likely wind up being the starting center for the team, with Luke Hunger and Jack Bailey coming in as backups.
