The University of Iowa Athletics Department has officially released its Week 9 depth chart as the Hawkeyes return home to Kinnick Stadium where they will hope to flush the scarring memories of last Saturday’s game. It’s Homecoming week in Iowa City. I do love a good parade, and downtown will be rocking with festivities and the Hawkeye Marching Band and the Alumni Band (affectionately known as “The Fossils”). The crowd will be wound up as the Hawks battle for a bronze bull and The Heartland Trophy.
At running back, Kamari Moulton is out after being injured in the first half against Minnesota. He was seen on the sidelines with trainers examining his right shoulder before heading to the locker room, although no official word has been released as to the nature of his injury. Xavier Williams is listed as the starter on the depth chart. Backups are Nathan McNeil OR Braeden Jackson. LJ Phillips is not listed, even though he had 7 carries and a 3.6 yards per carry average last Saturday.
The OR continues at quarterback for Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski.
At left guard Trent Wilson is not listed again this week. Will Hahn is listed as the backup to Leighton Jones.
Xavier Styles is listed as the starter over Anthony Hawkins for the second week in a row. Iowa did not draw any defensive pass interference penalties in Saturday’s game.
Wisconsin is now ranked No. 25 in the AP poll and stands at 3-1 in the Big Ten, while Iowa dropped out of the rankings this week and is currently 2-2 in the conference. Iowa’s opponent on November 7 is Northwestern and is currently ranked No. 20.
Depth Chart Notes
Positions listed with OR are ordered numerically. The starting defensive lineup will vary based on formation and personnel packages.
