The Seattle Seahawks wasted little time in making reigning Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl champion Jaxon Smith-Njigba the highest paid receiver in NFL history. His record-setting extension, worth a whopping $168 million in total, puts him under contract with the Seahawks through the end of the 2031 season. The best part? He won’t even turn 30 until 2032. It’s also worth noting that Smith-Njigba’s extension doesn’t really kick in until after his fifth-year option is completed, so this
is great news for anyone worried about Seattle’s salary cap situation.
As expected, there will be a press conference on Wednesday with Smith-Njigba, head coach Mike Macdonald, and general John Schneider to address this monumental news.
The live stream starts at noon PT and may possibly be pulled some time after the news conference ends, in which case we’ll have a separate video with the replay uploaded. We’ll also have a transcript of the interview available later on in the day with the most notable quotes from JSN, Coach Macdonald, and Schneider.
