After entering the transfer portal on April 16, Ty Rodgers has found a new home, as he committed to Boise State this morning.
The former Illini guard is heading to the Broncos with two seasons of eligibility remaining, as a redshirt junior.
Rodgers spent the last four seasons in Champaign, but hasn’t played since 2023, when Illinois made a run to the Elite Eight.
The following season, in a relatively surprising move, Rodgers decided to redshirt what would’ve been his third year of eligibility.
After
sticking around the team for a season, he chose to come back to play for the Illini in 2025-26, but unfortunately he suffered a knee injury in the summer that kept him out for the entire season.
Despite not playing these past few seasons, Rodgers remained a key figure for Illinois. Whether it was via mentoring the young players or maintaining a strong leadership presence in the locker room, he made an impact.
Now, Rodgers will look to get back on the floor and get his playing career up and moving again, this time in Boise, Idaho.
