A former New England Patriot was back at Gillette Stadium to end the week.
The organization worked out free agent Terrell Jennings on Friday, as ESPN’s Mike Reiss first reported, along with fellow running backs Ulysses Bentley IV and Josh Pitsenberger.
Jennings, 25, had been placed on injured reserve prior to the preseason opener in August and cleared waivers after reaching an injury settlement two days later. The settlement runs through the sixth week of the regular season before he would be eligible
to re-sign in Foxborough, per the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed.
Once a rookie minicamp tryout, Jennings agreed to terms with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Florida A&M in 2024. The 6-foot, 222-pound rusher went on to spend parts of the past two years on the 53-man roster after reaching the league limit in standard elevations from the practice squad.
Last campaign, Jennings rushed for his first NFL touchdown before finishing the Super Bowl LX run on injured reserve after sustaining a concussion in December. Standing 10 appearances into his career, with 77 snaps on offense and 69 snaps on special teams, he has totaled 115 yards from scrimmage through 37 touches.
An October reunion remains on the table. For now, running backs coach Tony Dews’ depth chart moves forward Rhamondre Stevenson, TreVeyon Henderson and Corey Kiner on the active roster as well as Lan Larison and recent returnee Hassan Haskins on the practice squad.
But there were additional backfield visitors.
Bentley, 25, entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2025. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound former transfer from Southern Methodist to Ole Miss made one appearance during his rookie campaign with the Indianapolis Colts and was released from the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad this October.
Pitsenberger, 22, signed with the Houston Texans as a undrafted rookie out of Yale in May. The 6-foot, 215-pound back, who twice earned first-team All-Ivy League selections, landed on injured reserve during the preseason before being waived with an injury settlement later in August.
The New York Jets visit Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The AFC East kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
