The Seattle Seahawks made 11 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, waiving two of their selections on Tuesday’s roster cutdown day. As expected, those players cleared waivers and will be retained via the practice squad.
ESPN’s Brady Henderson reports that running back Damien Martinez and wide receiver Ricky White III, two of Seattle’s three seventh-round picks, will be on the initial practice squad.
Martinez, who played at both Oregon State and the University of Miami, was competing for the third-string running back role alongside Kenny McIntosh and George Holani. McIntosh’s season-ending ACL tear in training camp narrowed the battle to two players, and Holani seemingly won out decisively, sitting out the third preseason game as an unofficial healthy scratch.
White was not just a productive receiver at UNLV, he was a special teams superstar, blocking four punts in the 2024 season. In Seattle’s crowded receiving room, however, he wasn’t able to elevate beyond the third-team offense in preseason and lost out to Dareke Young and Cody White during final roster cuts.
