The veteran receiver is heading back home for a workout.
Fans felt it was a matter of time before we saw this news and now it appears to be reality. Wide receiver Gabe Davis is set to return to Buffalo on a free agent visit after he meets with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday. Davis was a fourth-round pick of the Bills in 2020 and had an up and down four seasons before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency.
Davis is in Pittsburgh for a medical recheck, which could be why he remains
unsigned so late in the offseason. He tore the meniscus in his knee in November and missed the second half of the season, but that should be ship shape.
His career with the Bills was one met with uncertainty amongst fans due to the inconsistencies he would show. Most remember Davis for his four-touchdown performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional round but other than that there was plenty of duds. Davis would go multiple games without a catch and sometimes even without a target. The one thing he did excel at was blocking and being a big play option for quarterback Josh Allen when he would escape outside the pocket. Overall, Davis logged over 3200 yards and 35 touchdowns for the Bills.
What this is more telling is how the team currently views their wide receivers especially towards the bottom of the roster. Curtis Samuel is falling out of grace with the fan base due to always being injured. We have not seen much of him throughout camp and the preseason. Elijiah Moore who some thought was going to be a wild card heading into camp has nothing flashy to show on his resume and had two drops in the most recent preseason game.
Would you welcome Davis back to Buffalo?
