Getting eliminated from the Champions League hurts every single time. Many believed this year was a good chance for Bayern Munich to win the tournament, but a 1-1 draw vs Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday sealed a 5-6 aggregate loss to the Parisians.
The immediate emotion after the loss should be and of course is disappointment, but head coach Vincent Kompany will not be bogged down by negative emotions.
“I don’t have the ability to be disappointed for long,” the Belgian explained (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
“Of course it’s bitter, in the end we lost both games against a very good opponent. We needed to be more decisive. Congratulations to PSG. The Champions League is over for us this season, but there will be another chance —- and that’s a motivation for me.”
How much of this season’s success was lightning captured in a bottle and how much of it was built on a side that can sustain success over multiple years? It seems that the vast majority of the team will stay for at least one more year, so Bayern will try to attack next season’s competition even harder than this one.
