In a new interview with Complex Graps, WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill was asked if she is satisfied with how her title reign is going, or if there is anything more that she wants to do.
Cargill responded by saying she wants to wrestle more:
“I mean, I want to wrestle. When you become champion, you want to defend your title as much as possible. We have a stellar locker room, but they’re all tied in the tag division, making that strong. And I get it, but I want to wrestle. I do want to have matches
with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, all these top girls. I feel like if I had rematch with Tiffany [Stratton], that’s one of the things that would have solidified my win.
The person that injured me, to have me out, was Nia Jax. I would think that would be something that we could run it back, even though we’re both heels. However, I feel like I’m in that in between point we’re I’m kind of a tweener. And at the end of the day, I don’t care about anybody…I wrestled Chelsea [Green], and Chelsea’s a heel.
So, I just would’ve wished to wrestle more. That’s all I want to do is wrestle. That’s all I want to do. I think getting dressed up is pretty and nice, and having these promos, and I love that too ’cause it puts me to the test, but I like wrestling, and that’s what I’m here for.”
Jade’s reign as champion began in early November when she defeated Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cargill went over 100 days without defending the title on TV/PLE. Her first and only defense on TV finally happened last month when she defeated Jordynne Grace on SmackDown in a match that I felt was overshadowed by Dirty Dom Mysterio.
Jade’s next title defense on PLE is scheduled for the weekend of April 18 & 19 when she fights Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 42. That’s two title defenses on TV/PLE over the span of nearly 170 days, assuming WWE doesn’t book another one before WrestleMania. If Jade is looking to wrestle more often, then she must be pretty frustrated with her lack of activity as champion.
Do you think Jade Cargill’s title reign continues beyond WrestleMania, and she does eventually get those matches against the like of Flair, Jax, and Bliss? Or will WWE pull the plug on her in Las Vegas after a disappointing run with the belt? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
