His rivalry with Tyrese Halliburton is paused on the court and in the ring due to the injury suffered by the Indiana Pacers star in last year’s NBA Finals. But as Brunson’s New York Knicks moved one step closer to this year’s Finals with a hilariously lopsided Game 6 victory over the Atlanta Hawks to win their first round series last night (April 30), WWE was still on his mind.
At the post-game presser, Brunson was asked what he thought about Roman Reigns winning the WWE World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania
42 a couple weekends ago, and The Bloodline reunion that happened the Monday after on Raw.
The two-time NCAA champ replied with a smile:
“See, these are the questions I want asked… Very excited, very excited. I have a handshake with one of our trainers, and we acknowledge him before every game.”
In addition to his pre-game ritual (G0mez and Jagler do something similar in the Cageside offices every day), Brunson put Reigns as the small forward in his “WWE Starting Five” during his visit to company headquarters in Stamford to promote Raw at Madison Square Garden earlier this year.
Don’t think the Tribal Chief hasn’t noticed. After Brunson’s latest shoutout, he reposted it with an emoji all WWE watchers understand…
So should we call him Jalen Uce now, or…
