You would be hard-pressed to find anyone at Bayern Munich who is not a fan of midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović.
The youngster is developing into a two-way star and head coach Vincent Kompany can see consistent growth in the 21-year-old’s game.
“He’s always done what he’s doing in attack, but has now taken steps in his defending. His rate of winning back the ball is very good. He knows how he can have an impact on the team with his defending. The boy has made good progress. He’s one of our own youngsters
and is showing how it’s done,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Sporting director Christoph Freund is also a fan of the work Pavlović has put in to improve.
“He’s still very young, but it’s a special talent to play with such confidence. He’s stepped things up even more, is working very hard. It’s good fun with him and it’s great when someone from your own youth system can establish himself,” said Freund (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Finally, Kompany looks at the versatility within the midfield that Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich both have and seeks to maximize it.
“I’m very flexible. They know they have certain roles in our attacking plan, that they always need to be available for the ball. They also need to pose a threat. They also have an important role in shoring things up. I always try to look at the player’s profile and give them a role in the overall picture. Pavlo’s profile is activity, always being available. Jo has the final pass. Pavlo doesn’t do what Jo does, and vice versa, but it’s all compatible for us,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
