Barcelona have confirmed that defender Patricio Pacifico has been ruled out for 12 months after undergoing surgery on a torn ACL.
Pacifico only arrived in the winter transfer window and went on to suffer the injury in a draw against Olot last month.
He is now facing a long spell on the sidelines in what is a huge blow for player and club alike.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“Barça Atlètic player Patricio Pacifico underwent successful surgery on Monday for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in
his left knee, an injury he sustained during a match against UE Olot on April 19.
“The procedure was performed at the Hospital of Barcelona and was carried out by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services.
“The expected recovery time will be about 12 months.”
It’s not clear what will happen with Pacificio now. There had been talk Barca had wanted to make his loan deal permanent, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
In the meantime let’s just hope he makes a full recovery.
Get well soon Patricio Pacifico.
