Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski was a happy man after scoring a hat-trick as the Catalan giants beat Celta 4-2 at Balaidos in La Liga on Sunday night.
The game always looked like being a tricky fixture
for Hansi Flick’s side, and Lewandowski admitted the Barca boss had some strong words at the half-time break.
“We’re very happy. Winning a game here 2-4… Vigo is always difficult for us. We’re three points behind Real Madrid, and that’s what’s important,” he told Movistar.
“In the second half we had the game more under control. In the first half, Celta scored goals very easily. At half-time we talked about what we needed to improve and how to play better. I think the fourth goal was very important to play with more patience and composure.”
The win sees Barca cut the gap at the top of the table to Real Madrid, with Lewandowski confident the team will be much improved after the international break.
“Now comes the break and we’ll come back with a different attitude,” he added.
“Celta played very well in the first half. They were making two or three extra passes to create space. We need to have everything more under control.
“We have to analyze how to improve defensively. Now we have two weeks to switch off. I hope that when we come back we’ll play much better. It’s a time to change things that aren’t working well.”
Lewandowski will now head off to join up with the Poland squad for World Cup qualifiers before returning to Barca in time for their next game against Athletic Club.
