What is the story about?
With
the announcement that Andrew Painter had made the starting rotation and that Justin Crawford had his contract selected, the team’s final roster is starting to take shape. We should know the fate of the 26th man on the roster soon enough (please don’t be Stubbs, please don’t be Stubbs…), at which point we will have the final team ready to open against the Rangers on Thursday.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- In case you were wondering, Justin Crawford will make the Phillies’ Opening Day roster. He’s earned the trust of the coaching staff ($).
- Some players have goals in the season that they look to hit. Bryce Harper’s goal: to draw 140 walks on the year. Bondsian numbers.
- Zack Wheeler’s health and Andrew Painter’s outlook gives this Phillies rotation, deep already, a lot of optimism.
MLB news:
- MLB players shrinking! This is not a science fiction movie. Rather, it’s more accurate thanks to ABS needs by MLB ($).
- You want bold predictions for the MLB season? Here are some by everyone’s favorite Ralph ($).
- It’s possible that it is done by the time you read this, but the Pirates and Konnor Griffin are in talks on a long term extension.
- Walker Buehler will be in the Padres’ starting rotation to begin the season. This is probably unsurprising news.
