Cowboys Make Final Decision on Maxx Crosby Trade: Report – Anne Erickson, Heavy.com
The Dallas Cowboys were in on Maxx Crosby just a few days ago, but in light of recent events, they’ve apparently had a change of heart.
Will the Dallas Cowboys Trade for Maxx Crosby?
According to Dianna Russini of the Athletic, the Cowboys are out. They won’t go after Crosby for a trade a second time around.
“The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to re-engage in Maxx Crosby trade discussions at this time, a high-ranking source tells The Athletic,” she said on a post on X.
So, it appears the Cowboys are
done with this deal, although Pelissero did imply that the team would be interested.
The Ravens, according to a report from Ryan McFadden of ESPN, back out of the deal due to medial concerns.
“No further details were provided in the Raiders’ announcement, but league sources told ESPN the Ravens backed out because of medical concerns that arose during a physical,” McFadden stated in a story. “Trades are contingent on players passing the physical and aren’t official until the start of the new league year Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.”
He added that the Ravens didn’t respond to ESPN’s request for comment. The original the deal was to trade the five-time Pro-Bowl defensive end to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.
Dallas Cowboys receiving trade calls for veteran defensive player – Nick Harris, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Osa Odighizuwa is getting interest from an NFC rival.
The Dallas Cowboys are receiving calls inquiring about veteran defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa and his potential availability on the trade market, according to multiple sources.
Two league sources say that the San Francisco 49ers are among the teams that have made contact with Dallas. CBS Sports was the first to report Odighizuwa’s interest on the trade market.
Heading into the second year of a four-year, $80 million contract signed last offseason, Odighizuwa could be the odd man out in a stacked room of defensive tackles that includes Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark. On Tuesday, the Cowboys agreed to terms with another defensive tackle, Otito Ogbonnia, adding even more uncertainty to Odighizuwa’s future.
The Cowboys met with Odighizuwa’s representation in Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine about a contract restructure to free up cap space for the team, as they did with multiple players. Since then, they have completed restructures for quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, offensive lineman Tyler Smith, safety Malik Hooker, offensive tackle Terence Steele and Clark.
However, Odighizuwa’s deal has yet to be touched.
That could indicate that they are leaving the door open to a potential deal to either acquire a player or draft capital in exchange for Odighizuwa. Reports suggested his potential involvement in a Maxx Crosby trade, but an official offer was never made before the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to a deal with the Baltimore Ravens. With Crosby now back in Las Vegas after Baltimore backed out on the trade, it’s too early to tell if the Cowboys will re-enter the mix for a potential deal.
Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly sign former Dallas Cowboys OL Brock Hoffman – Griffin McVeigh, On3.com
Mike McCarthy continues to reunite with former Cowboys players.
New Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy is bringing a familiar face along with him. Former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Brock Hoffman is signing with the Steelers, according to Jordan Schultz. Hoffman was non-tendered by the Cowboys and allowed him to hit free agency. Now, he lands a one-year deal with another historic NFL franchise.
“Sources: The #Steelers are signing former #Cowboys C/G Brock Hoffman to a 1-year, $2.5M deal — reuniting with HC Mike McCarthy,” Schultz said via X. “The 26-year-old Hoffman started 14 games over the last two years, proving to be a valuable depth piece at C and both G
Seven of the starts for Hoffman came this past season. Six of them were in the middle of the year, getting out there beginning Week 3, all the way until Week 8. This was mainly due to starting center Cooper Beebe being down due to an injury. Still, Hoffman put together a good shift as the Cowboys were one of the NFL’s top offenses.
The finale vs. the New York Giants is the final time Hoffman trotted out there as a starter for the Cowboys. He is now hoping to do the same up in Pittsburgh, getting a fresh start. This will be just the second team Hoffman has ever played for after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.
McCarthy is getting another chance as a head coach in the league. Obviously, his tenure in Dallas did not fully work out. But there were times when the Cowboys felt like they were close to putting it all together. Not too much crossover has taken place but Hoffman certainly provides that.
Cowboys agree to terms with QB Sam Howell – Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk
It looks like Joe Milton will have some competition this offseason for the backup QB job.
The well-traveled Sam Howell will be traveling again.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN, the former Eagles backup quarterback has agreed to terms with the Cowboys.
A fifth-round pick of the Commanders in 2022, Howell was the full-year starter in 2023, leading the league in both attempts (612) and interceptions (21). He was traded to the Seahawks in 2024.
Last year, Seattle traded Howell to the Vikings. After the preseason, he was re-traded to the Eagles.
The current Cowboys understudy to Dak Prescott is Joe Milton III. The Howell arrival suggests that Will Grier won’t be back as the third quarterback. Or it could set up a potential trade of Milton, who is under contract through 2027.
