Within WWE’s kayfabe universe, Dominik Mysterio has once again disappointed his family during the holidays.
The day before Thanksgiving, Rey Mysterio greeted fans as community members unveiled a mural in Rey’s hometown of San Diego. The new art piece honors his wrestling career, charitable work, and the legacy of lucha libre.
Joining Rey was his daughter Aalyah, who was genuinely moved by the tribute. But, notably absent was Dominik, something his sister seemed ready to poke fun at.
“I didn’t expect
him to come. He’s dumb,” Aalyah playfully told Cageside Seats.
Dominik’s absence aligns with his storyline feud with his father, dating back to 2022 when he betrayed Rey and joined Judgment Day. That Thanksgiving, he famously showed up uninvited to the family feast with his new “Mami,” Rhea Ripley.
After being turned away, the pair forced their way in and attacked Rey, with Dom breaking a broom handle over his father’s leg. While the family pleaded with him to stop, Dominik quipped, “Stop yelling — it’s the holidays. Chill out.”
Such actions cemented his status as one of WWE’s most hated heels. But in recent months, fans have taken a liking to “El Sucio,” even if they still won’t let him speak during promos.
But as the boos slowly give way to cheers, Aalyah seems bemused by his notoriety while celebrating her father’s legacy.
“The people love you, I don’t know why. But you should have been here because this is cool,” she said, smiling.
Dominik might still visit the new mural after Survivor Series. This Saturday, he faces John Cena for the Intercontinental Title in Cena’s final premium live event. If he wins, it would be fitting for WWE’s smarmy rudo to flex in front of the mural with that and his AAA Mega Championship — a reminder of his success, not his dad’s.
