Jermall Charlo’s trainwreck of a career is once again off the rails, as multiple outlets confirm that Australian authorities denied him a visa for his scheduled appearance on PBC’s July 26th Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu show.
Per Dan Rafael, Charlo’s (34-0, 23 KO) “past legal issues” caused the issue. Our own John Hansen did an excellent deep dive on Charlo’s 2022 arrest for assault, though folks may be more familiar with the 2024 DWI that prompted the WBC to finally strip him of their middleweight
title after nearly three years without a title defense.
To be honest, nothing of value was lost. Charlo was slated to face Kane Mazoudier, a super welterweight not far removed from a stoppage loss to Nikita Tszyu. We saw this show before when he dragged Jose Benavidez Jr and “Cornflake” LaManna up from lower weight classes and nobody needed to see it again.
Headliner Spence made it to the Land Down Under without issue, and Rafael reports that Stephen Fulton, who was in limbo earlier this week, likewise made the journey.
