Belal Muhammad never got a chance to face Colby Covington under the UFC banner, a fight that seemed like a foregone conclusion yet somehow never materialized. Instead, “Remember the Name” will challenge “Chaos” for the RAF Crossover Championship atop the RAF 13 lineup this Friday (Sept. 18) on FOX Nation in Miami.
And Muhammad is more interested in punishment than pinning.
“We got something big coming up, RAF this week, me against Colby,” Muhammad said on YouTube. “I plan to go out there and dominate
him. I’m gonna go for the tech fall but if I see the pin there, I’m gonna go for the pin. Or maybe I’ll put his back to the ground and when the referee is about to do it, I’ll tell the ref, ‘don’t do it.’ I’ll pick [Colby] up by his head, front headlock him, and maybe power-bomb, suplex, belly-to-back … one of those. I’ve been playing with some stuff, moving some stuff, but we’re ready, man. We’re going to Miami this Friday. Make sure you guys tune in. It’s gonna be a fun weekend.”
He should skip the suplex and give Covington The Amazon head bite.
Covington (4-0) remains undefeated under the RAF banner and is coming off a huge win over RAF mainstay Arman Tsarukyan at RAF 11 just a few months back (see it here). The 38-year-old “Chaos” also holds RAF victories over Luke Rockhold, Dillon Danis, and Chris Weidman.
As for the 1-1 Muhammad, also 38, he bounced back from his debut loss to former two-time NCAA Division-1 National Champion David Carr at RAF 4 by dominating the mummified remains of Ben Askren as part of the RAF 11 lineup back in July, which is how this brawl started.
