Losing isn’t fun for anybody. This is especially true at the professional level, where wins and losses can be just as important as performance for future contracts and opportunity. So when teams underperform
like the NY Jets have this season, cracks in the armor start to show themselves. And, it seems like a recent example of that is running back Breece Hall.
After Hall’s viral comment about the Jets making more mistakes than their opponents just a few weeks ago, the running back took to social media after the team’s most recent loss to the Denver Broncos in London. And, the message is about as cryptic as could be for a team in a situation like the Jets currently find themselves in.
“They want me to lay down, but I got [something] to stand for,” wrote Hall on Instagram. He also provided the “Free20” hashtag at the end of his post, which has lead to insinuations that the running back is looking to find a way out of New York.

The running back also had a similar post on X (formerly Twitter), that is now deleted.
Yet, if Hall is looking to find a way out of New York, it’s unlikely the Jets move on from him given his current market value.
Per SNY’s Connor Hughes, the running back is only expected to fetch a Day 3 pick from interested suitors.
“Talked to a half dozen front office sources late last week for SNY’s pregame. Their consensus on his value: Fifth round pick, potential for fourth if two teams compete for him. One GM when I asked about a third: ‘Way, way too rich,’” wrote Hughes on X (formerly Twitter).
Hughes cited from another general manager that teams only view Hall as a “rent a player” and that he had durability concerns and an inconsistent ability to get tough yardage.
The truth about Hall’s trade value lies somewhere in the middle. However, it’s a situation where perhaps the NY Jets waited too long to move on from their starting running back.
Too Little, Too Late?
In the 2025 NFL draft, the Jets added Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis to their running back room. To many, this signaled the potential end of Hall’s tenure in New York. Yet, the back remained, and played a role with the team that he still holds to this day. That lack of action may have caused Hall’s value to lessen, forcing the Jets’ back to the wall in regards of what they can (and should) accept for the running back in trade compensation.
And while Hall hasn’t been perfect in 2025, he has been a high-level player this season. Currently, Hall is 10th in the NFL with 560 scrimmage yards (410 rushing, 150 receiving). The running back also holds the highest breakaway run percentage in the NFL at 48.8. However, Hall has not been able to find the endzone. It’s been a criticism against him throughout his NFL career; and potentially a reason for teams to hesitate pulling the trigger with anything more than a late-round flier on the running back.
Yet, as the team continues to struggle and losses stack, we may see more leaks be made public. With that in mind, one must ask themselves: Is Hall’s social media post a frustrated player venting on a losing team, or a player looking to find his way out of town? We’ll find out soon enough.
