Tommaso Ciampa made his AEW debut way back in January, yet he walked into tonight’s (Sept. 26) All Out pay-per-view winless on AEW PPV nights out of four such matches. The Psycho Killer was back at it again here in Chicago challenging Kazuchika Okada for the AEW International championship.
Ciampa’s family was at ringside to watch him win the big one. Okada planned to ruin Ciampa’s daughter’s birthday celebration by giving her the middle finger, but she flipped the tables on him, much to his surprise.
The Rainmaker tried to pull out all the stops to retain his gold, which is why he introduced Don Callis’ screwdriver into the mix when the referee wasn’t paying attention. But Tommaso countered it and hit his big moves for a near fall.
Even with Ciampa’s family there at ringside, I think most fans knew how this one would end. The Psycho Killer was down for the count for good once Okada nailed him with the Rainmaker clothesline.
The end result is that Ciampa goes back to the drawing board without a championship and is still winless on AEW PPV, while Okada gets to check off his first successful title defense after winning the belt back last month.
