We don’t know much about Tottenham Hotspur’s first preseason under Roberto De Zerbi apart from a preseason tour to Australia and New Zealand in late July. Spurs will play Auckland FC on July 26 before a friendly against Chelsea in Sydney, Australia on August 1.
But now we know another friendly that’s happening. Tottenham announced today that will play two preseason friendly matches against Bundesliga club Hoffenheim in August at the conclusion of the overseas tour.
The match referenced in the tweet above is open to the public at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will take place on Saturday, August 15. In addition to the above, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold is reporting that the teams will play another friendly behind closed doors the following day at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training center. Gold says this will provide another chance to play a preseason match for the players that didn’t get an opportunity to play in the public game (so — probably a lot of academy kids and U23s).
There will probably be a couple more warmup games announced over the next couple of weeks — a two match tour and one home friendly is unlikely to be enough for De Zerbi to get a look at all of the players at his disposal. the World Cup ends on July 19 so that should be enough time for the players at the World Cup to get their post-tournament break before reporting back to Spurs for preseason. This match might be the last one before the start of the season, however. Tottenham open the 2026/27 Premier League with a trip to Brentford a week after the Hoffenheim match on Sat. August 22.
