There is not a lot of positive momentum around the Kentucky Wildcats football program at the moment, as the Cats are coming off a tough loss to Ole Miss this past Saturday. With that said, there is one player who continues to get brought up by the fanbase to hopefully help turn the momentum of this fanbase around.
That is… Cutter Boley.
The redshirt freshman saw some brief action against the Rebels on Saturday as starting QB Zach Calzada left the game due to an injury.
After missing the final few drives
of the game and Monday’s practice, the seventh-year senior returned to the field on Tuesday, according to Bush Hamdan. He also was not ready to tip his hand on who would get the start against Eastern Michigan.
“We’re in a position to have both guys ready to go with equal practice reps and getting them both ready to go. We know we got to play better at all levels, and so both those guys will be ready to go,” said Hamdan after practice Tuesday.
The UK offensive coordinator also knows that Boley has been thrust into some pretty tough situations in his two seasons in Lexington thus far.
“That’s the tough part for a guy like Cutter in his situation; he’s an extremely talented player. So much of it is the outside noise — should you have gotten this, should you — and then he gets thrown in the game. You’re in a situation where you have to go in and produce,” said Hamdan.
“And so for him, that’s the number one thing as a young quarterback, it’s be ready when your time is called. He’s got a great opportunity to play this week. We’re going to be in there all day and night with him and making sure that he’s prepared and knows what he’s got to get done and put the best plan together for him and Zach.”
Sounds like the BBN will get a look at both players this Saturday as the team looks to really turn this offense around heading into the remainder of SEC play.
