Tonight’s (Sept. 2) episode of Dynamite featured AEW World Champion Will Ospreay, AEW National Champion Andrade, and the United Empire defeating a combination of The Dogs and The Demand in a 10-man tag team match.
After the match was over, Gabe Kidd was hell-bent on killing Ospreay with a steel chair. That’s when AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley came down to the ring and put himself in harm’s way to prevent Kidd from doing so, even though Kidd is technically part of Jon’s Death Riders faction.
Mox bought enough time for Andrade to get back in the ring and brawl with Kidd, which left Moxley and Ospreay together in the center of the ring. Jon put his hand on the back of Will’s head and they stood in that position staring at each other for a moment.
Everyone in the building then looked at the big video screen, which revealed that Tony Khan just booked Ospreay vs. Moxley for the AEW world title at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view in Chicago on Sept. 26. This news was met with a very loud “Holy shit!” chant from the audience, and both stars also looked surprised by the decision.
Are you shocked that AEW is going right ahead with Ospreay vs. Moxley for the world title on its next PPV, or does it makes sense to book a huge match like this (as well as Cope & Cage’s 3-way TLC match) given that WWE star and hometown hero CM Punk is booked at Worlds Collide in Chicago on the very same night?
