What is the story about?
The NBA has shared an updated salary cap projection for the 2026-27 season with its member franchises. The new number comes in at $165 million, a million lower than originally forecasted for the season. Shams Charania of ESPN shared the news via X today.
Per Charania, the decline is due to a reduction in local revenue.
The numbers work out to:
- Minimum Salary Cap $149 million
- Luxury Tax Threshold $201 million
- First Tax Apron $209 million
- Second Tax Apron $222 million
The Blazers have an approximately $172 million dedicated to their active players and dead-cap contracts for the 2026-27 season currently. That number does not
include cap holds for veterans Matisse Thybulle and Robert Williams III.
