We are just moments away from the North Carolina Tar Heels facing off against the Michigan State Spartans in their second game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off. Both teams enter today’s game 6-0 and hope to leave
Florida with their unblemished records intact.
The Tar Heels had quite a time dealing with St. Bonaventure a couple of days ago, but ultimately they were able to put them away for good. The Bonnies have a solid squad that could make their way to the NCAA Tournament should everyone stay healthy, so the final score wasn’t incredibly surprising. Where UNC could’ve helped themselves, though, was in the turnover department in the first half — they finished the first 20 minutes with 11 turnovers, but only had two errors for the rest of the game. The Spartans aren’t going to be as easy to deal with should the same thing happen today, so they will have to play as clean of a game as possible if they want to come away with the victory.
On the other side of things, Michigan State has already earned two wins this season over ranked opponents. The win against Kentucky gave Carolina fans a lot of reason to be concerned about tonight, but after that game we learned that the Wildcats actually may be a bit disfuctional. Still, the Spartans look legit, and the Heels’ front court have their work cut out for them dealing with senior forward, Jaxon Kohler, who currently leads the team averaging 15.3 points per game.
We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving, and if you happen to have time to hang out with us, feel free to have fun in the comments section! As always, we will be back after the game with post-game analysis and takes. Until then, Go Heels!
