After a month of practices and preseason games, Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers’ personnel department now have all the pressure on them. The cut-down deadline to a 53-man roster is fast approaching on Tuesday afternoon, and with the Packers completing their preseason with a 20-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, the players on the roster bubble have no more opportunities to impress before that date.
Now it’s in the hands of the front office to decide on an initial 53-man roster.
Predictions are coming in from all across the Packers media universe, but Gutekunst is already hard at work, having acquired a backup offensive lineman from Philadelphia on Sunday night.
Although some NFL teams like to get a head start on roster cuts on the day before the deadline, don’t expect much news out of Green Bay today. After all, the Packers are known for revealing their 53 well after the cutoff at 4:00 PM Eastern, with news usually not starting to trickle out about individual cuts until the morning of the deadline.
Let’s look back at a few of the standout performances in training camp and a few items to keep in mind when looking ahead to the 53.

Presumably the smoker was something used at a concessions stand at the Bengals’ stadium. For added oddity, it seems like the two break-ins were separate, unrelated incidents!
