Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has confirmed he’s set to fly back out to Saudi Arabia to rejoin the squad after returning home following an injury scare.
The Germany goalkeeper left the camp
before the semi-final win over Athletic Club due to a knee problem. He underwent tests back home at Barcelona and has now been given the all clear.
Deco offered an update on the goalkeeper before kick-off against Athletic. He said: “Ter Stegen felt a bad sensation in his knee during Tuesday’s training session. When you’re coming back from an injury, it’s normal to be a little worried.
“That’s why he went to Barcelona, but after being examined by the doctor who operated on him, it’s been ruled out that he has anything serious.”
Ter Stegen has now posted a video on Instagram of him in training and confirmed: “All good. Morning session in Barcelona and now heading back to Jeddah to join the team again.”
The goalkeeper will be expected to be on the bench again for Sunday’s final against Real Madrid or Atletico, with Joan Garcia once again between the sticks for Hansi Flick’s side.
However, Ter Stegen’s future at Barcelona remains in doubt amid continued speculation about a January move to Girona.
