It’s Sunday once more, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! This past week, we reached the halfway point of the regular season, the 2026 All-Star Break, and well, do we have a lot in store. Between the amateur draft, the Home Run Derby, and the Midsummer Classic itself, we have quite a bit to cover, so without further ado, let’s get started!
Yanks in Philly
Those interested in historical linguistics (or, alternatively, read this blog back during the COVID shutdown) will know
that the term Yankee was, once upon a time, a pejorative term used by the British for the colonials. And so, with this year’s All-Star Game in Philadelphia for the country’s 250th birthday, well, it should come as no surprise that the Bronx Bombers stole the show.
First, we’ve got the Baby Bombers at the Futures Game.
Soon after, the major leaguers — Cody Bellinger, Ben Rice, and Cody Schlittler — arrived in Philly, where they began by participating in Media Day tomfoolery.
Monday night saw Ben Rice and his father tackle the Home Run Derby, and while he didn’t exactly excel in the competition, he did have the time of his life.
Then came the game itself, where Bellinger and Rice combined to drive in three of the four runs scored in the entire game, with Belli going home with the All-Star Game MVP.
And, of course, once the week was over, the players took to Instagram to share their experience.
Of course, the active players weren’t the only ones in Philadelphia.
Draft Day
Last weekend, we welcomed another draft class into the Yankees family. While not the first round pick, the biggest story was, of course, Luke Pettitte, the son of Yankees legendary southpaw Andy. Naturally, both he and his family were ecstatic at the news.
He wasn’t the only member of the Yankees family to get good news, though. CC Sabathia’s son was also drafted, in this case by the Milwaukee Brewers.

And of course, let’s not forget the players drafted who aren’t related to Yankees royalty.
