The talk of the Alabama corner of the internet yesterday was Daniel Hill.
“I had to just go back and see what I was doing wrong,” Hill told the media after practice on Monday. “I had to change the way I was eating, cardio more, and that’s really it, and just keep working at that. That’s something that I felt like I needed to change, the coaches felt like I needed to change.”
“I made a commitment to myself to get my weight down, [so] I feel good. I feel way faster, my body feels better. Like all the
little knack injuries, I’m not having those anymore. I just feel better as a whole.”
Hill spent a while talking about he weight loss, his big emphasis on pass protection, and one funny clip where the reporters asked him to confirm that he squatted 805 pounds… And he said he doesn’t really know how he got to that point, they just put weight on a bar and he squatted it.
He also brought up the two transfer defensive linemen, Devan Thompkins and Dez Umeozulu, as guys who are really standing out.
We also got an interview from Keon Sabb that I think was a pretty fun interview.
Sabb talked about a number of different guys, especially talking up Ivan Taylor as a guy who’s making a lot of big strides. He also talked a bit about his younger brother joining the team this summer.

Maybe you can watch the side-by-sides of Austin Mack and Keelon Russell throwing the ball and decide who you think will be the Tide’s starter next year? I mean, if that’s all we’re going to get to speculate on, then we might as well go rampant with the speculating.
Well well well, we have some shakeup in the next College Football Committee
The College Football Playoff Selection Committee is getting a notable addition. Longtime coach Gus Malzahn is officially joining the group.
The CFP Management Committee announced Malzahn, along with Louisiana athletic director Bryan Maggard and former head coach Jeff Tedford, will begin three-year terms starting this spring. Malzahn and company will replace three outgoing members whose terms have expired, joining a committee tasked with shaping the future of the sport’s postseason.
Malzahn and Tedford will make for an interesting foil to all the athletic directors that have been running the committee. And hey, Tedford is one of the guys who has mentored Kalen DeBoer, so maybe he’ll have a soft spot if push comes to shove.
