Bayern Munich have continued to get the job done despite Vincent Kompany’s absence, with Aaron Danks stepping up to lead the team during the head coach’s recovery. But while the results have remained positive, Tom Bischof admitted that something is inevitably different without the Belgian on the touchline.
Asked whether things might be a little quieter in the dressing room without Kompany, Bischof praised Danks while acknowledging just how much the team misses their head coach.
“I think Danksy is doing
a good job too, and has a loud voice. He motivates us well, too, but of course, it’s a bit different when Vinnie is standing in front of us. We miss him, but we’re also happy that he’s doing much better now and is back home. We’re happy for him,” Bischof said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It is a nice insight into the atmosphere inside the Bayern dressing room. Danks has earned plenty of credit for keeping things moving, guiding Bayern to a 6-1 DFB-Pokal victory over FC Magdeburg, but Kompany’s presence clearly means a great deal to the players.
The most encouraging news is that Kompany has been discharged from the hospital and is continuing his recovery at home with his family. There is still no set timeline for his return, and Bayern are rightly allowing him all the time he needs.
The players miss their coach, but his health comes first. Hopefully, it will not be too long before Kompany is back where he belongs — on the sidelines, leading Bayern Munich.
